I know I'm not the only one feeling burnout
Updated: Dec 8, 2022
I am at the right place at the right time. I am living up to my life’s purpose. Affirm yourself in times of burnout and stress. College is awkward and not easy. You get mixed up in priorities relating to academics and social life and FOMO just hits the hardest! I’m exhausted and honestly feel like doing NOTHING. But, I remember why I am here and why I have committed to this. From a young age, I would visualize myself as a television reporter and personality at some point in my future. I know for a fact that 12-year-old me would just look at my life now in total awe. That's not the only visualization, but I'll save that for another time.
My burnout is more of a desire to change my routine. It’s grown old to me and I am ready for a change in classes and social schedule. Christmas break will be much needed LOL. I think that this has to do with my personality. I cannot stand doing the same thing every day for a long period of time. I like a more “chaotic” and unpredictable schedule. I know that in the future I want to be traveling 24/7 and not go and sit to work in the same place every day. Every personality is different, please remember that. Going to the same classes in the same location and having the same range of free time every day is just not my cup of tea.
The truth is, we are not alone and all confused about something we need in order to be ready for what the future holds. The world tells us we need to rush and have every little thing figured out by now. Life is too short to always be consumed in the future because one of these days we are going to look back to the past and realize how beautiful those moments were. I am treating this blog post like my own personal diary.
I know I said to affirm that you are at the right place but it won’t hurt to know in your heart and intuition that you are not where you are supposed to be. This advice can be deceiving but all I am asking is for you to please make sure that you are not lying to yourself or only staying in this position to please other people. It is very normal to be exhausted and burnt out in an environment and lifestyle that suits you. That’s just human nature and feeling the same levels of energy every day of your life is the most unrealistic thing ever.
Ask yourself these questions in a time of burnout:
Do my plans bring me excitement and passion?
What would your inner child say to you? Would he/she see everything they dreamed of?
Do I need to take a break and self-reflect?
Is this dream even MINE?
How can I alter my daily routine so that these last few weeks of the semester can be fresh and exciting?
If your true aspirations are not common and out of the ordinary, do not let that stop you. My big aspirations are WILD! What you think about and visualize for yourself every day is the path you need to be on. It is time that we trust and listen to ourselves.
