My personal story
confidence and recovery
Growing up, I have always been a social butterfly, involved in many activities, especially pageantry, close with my family, religious, and ambitious for the future! I have had so many amazing role models in my life and I have always strived to be a successful person. During my middle school years, I developed a sense of low self-esteem and became very critical about my body image, how well I performed in school, and measured my self-worth by all of my accomplishments. I accomplished great things in middle school and in high school but I just saw myself in such a negative light and was caught up in comparing myself with others. As a result of these thoughts at an early age, this led to a binge eating disorder when I began high school. Before graduating my senior year at the height of the pandemic, I engaged in behaviors of anorexia and bulimia. These behaviors were hidden from my friends and family for about a year. As I got into college, those harmful actions progressed. During the first semester of my sophomore year, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. However, it was not helpful that I was not in the environment that I wanted to be in and was just simply not the place for me. I decided to take action and recover my mind, body, and spirit after completing my first semester of my sophomore year. I am starting this blog during my gap semester. At the time of writing this, I have been in my stages of mental and physical recovery. I have finally found the freedom to authentically be myself and grow in confidence of who I am. I am creating this blog to help and inspire those who may be struggling. I want to show you all that recovery is possible and there is always happy healing.
