Have you practiced gratitude? It’s so transformative!

With so much happening in the world, it is so easy to slip into the lack mindset. It is human nature to have negative thoughts, feelings, and actions and it is impossible to be positive all the time. However, we need to be more aware that we have so much to be thankful for even in the midst of chaos.

According to Forbes, the lack mindset means, “Rather than being present and able to celebrate at the moment, you find yourself constantly worrying about the next hurdle that may come your way — even though there's no sign of it.” I see this concept being very similar to the victim mentality at times. Your thoughts become beliefs and your beliefs will turn into actions. If you think and believe that nothing ever works in your favor or there is no sense of abundance in your life, I urge you to please think this through before you slip into this mentality. If you think and speak these thoughts into existence, they will manifest into reality. In other words, be in an abundance mindset. It is so easy to be caught up in all of the material things and successes our world has to offer, however, we often overlook those things that make us who we are and support us every day. If you see the good and feel the good, you will ATTRACT the good!

Those who have known me for majority of my life, can attest to the fact that I used to view myself and the world as such an awful, horrible place. I truly thought and acted like the world was against me, people were out to get me, and I was a waste of space in this world. I carried a negative energy at times. My lack mindset was so severe that I went from being so motivated and involved in my high school years to completely losing interest in anything once I got to college. There were so many things that I took for granted in my life and so many moments I truly did not live in.

JOURNALING

Have you noticed that your thoughts and feelings are more powerful and resonate the most when you write them down? My favorite way to practice gratitude while journaling is by writing three things I am grateful for when I wake up. By the time I get ready for bed, I write down three things that I am thankful for about my day. Even though you may not be having a great day, I know for a fact there are at least three things that can set your heart on fire. Again, the “little things'' make the most impact.

AFFIRMATIONS (CHANGE YOUR LANGUAGE!!!)

You want to make your thoughts, words, beliefs, and actions your reality, right? The key to developing affirmations is to make them catchy and to the point. Write them down anywhere whether it is in your journal, sticky notes on a mirror, or the notes app. Make sure that you are creating your OWN. There are so many affirming phrases you can find on the internet, however, you want the words to be yours. What adjective to describe yourself or feelings will you easily remember? Affirmations can be both reassuring phrases to obtain goals but they are just as useful in supporting gratitude. A common gratitude affirmation is expressing thankfulness for good health.

Example: I am blessed to have a body that is healthy and moves with me throughout life.

Even though we are focusing on being grateful for the small and more meaningful things, this does not mean that you have to lose sight of your goals! To appreciate material things, we must have a solid love and sense of gratitude for what we overlook. The main takeaway I want you to get is the importance of shifting your energy to a state of abundance. That's what you need to attract.
