10 Books That Will Change Your Outlook On Life
Updated: Aug 31, 2022
Since beginning the gap semester, I have become an avid bookworm. I read a magnitude of self-help books written by so many different types of people and backgrounds. If you love a good self-care / self-improvement moment you need to read these ASAP. I've never been the type of person to get into fictional stories, however I love applying things that I read to my everyday life especially if it means that I can improve or start something new. Each of these books that I'm going to list are super simple to comprehend and written by very engaging authors who are extremely relatable. From developing good habits, girl-bossing, and relationship advice, there is at least one book in this post for everybody!
1. The 48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene
Allow this guidebook to help you take back your power! After this read, you will understand why it is vital to know your worth and what you can do to create the reality that you desire. With historical examples provided, you will be able to apply each tip and scenario to your own life and what you need to improve in terms of mental toughness. This is a book read by many politicians, businesspeople, entrepreneurs, entertainers, etc.
2. Made for this Moment, by Madison Prewitt
This is the perfect book to read when it comes to determining what you truly prioritize in your life, goals, and relationships. Madison provides the best advice on how to handle yourself with grace when others may be watching. In this world of constant comparison growing through the media, there are wonderful chapters full of advice (mental and spiritual) on how to remain true to yourself and know that there is a true purpose for you in this world.
3. Why Men Love Bitches, by Sherry Argov
Are you confused as to why men you fall for end up walking all over you and taking advantage of your kindness? Get what you want and most importantly, know what you want in a relationship. Once you read this book, you will be an expert at putting yourself first and not letting your feelings for a man and insecurities in relationships dictate your life.
4. Badass Habits, by Jen Sincero
This 21 day workbook will be your best friend when it comes to wanting to develop a habit that is important to you, or ending a habit that is not serving you. Habits can transform your life for the better or worse, so get to know yourself, what you prioritize, and what can take you through the quickest route to success.
5. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F***, by Mark Manson
We occupy our minds with so many things that honestly and simply just do not matter! Make the most out of your life by not worrying about living up to others’ expectations, what others are occupied by, and whatever else in this world drains you mentally. Clear up all of that irrelevant noise in your head and never feel guilty about putting yourself first when it comes to your mental health.
6. Rich Dad, Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki
Did you know all of the ways you can grow your assets to make sure that you are extra secure in your financial future? This book talks about Robert’s experience with his “poor dad”(biological father and a member of that traditional middle/working class) versus his “rich dad” (best friend’s father who did not go to college and owns plenty of real-estate and businesses). Comparisons are made between the two about how they perceive money and other ways to grow in income. It is never too early to consider your financial future so that you can be prepared and ready to live the life that you want to live and provide.
7. How to be a Boss Bitch, by Christine Quinn
Star of “Selling Sunset” Christine Quinn, expresses her relatability to readers as she gives a narrative about how she established her own empire despite her completely opposite upbringing. Her advice about mindset is so valuable and inspiring. Even though she was portrayed as the “villain” of the show, this book honestly made her my favorite character because of her genuineness, relatability, and honesty about the real-world. Christine covers topics such as financial independence, personal branding, manifestation, and how to hold your own in a relationship.
8. How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie
As shallow as this title may sound, each person who has struggled with social anxiety, confrontation, as well as being more approachable to others will greatly benefit from this classic. Those of us who may be a boss, employee, CEO, or entrepreneur can relate to this book in terms of how to work well with others in a professional setting. Everything that we do in our lives revolves around our interactions and encounters.
9. Bending the Universe, by Justin Wetch
This book is unique among the rest of the selections in this post because it is an assortment of inspiring, bold poems. There are five sections to this poetry collection on the subjects of society, love, life, the personal life of the author, and nature. After finishing this book, I started to be more considerate and aware of what is going on in the world around me and how there are some aspects of society that have been tarnished. This world can be a dark and crazy place but what we think and feel can determine how we react. And once you finish these poems, I hope that your reaction is how you can change the world.
10. The Art of Seduction, by Robert Greene
Seduction is not only about mastering how to be pleasing to the eyes and ears of your romantic pursuits. Seduction can be utilized in each encounter you make in any environment. Robert Greene highlights nine different seducer types in which anyone can identify because they are all so uniquely different and there is one suitable for each personality. This book allows readers to identify seducer types, victim types, as well as the thorough process of seduction which comes in 24 steps. If you have a history of struggling with persuasion, this read will allow you to tap into your power.
